Department of Infectious Diseases

During the first few years when Mashhad School of Health was granted the permit to change into the School of Medicine, senior medical students would be trained on some prevalent and regional infectious diseases for one month.During 1950s and 1960s, there were no infectious diseases wards, and students would be trained in a hospital called “Incidents and Poisoning with 200 Beds” (Akhond Khorasani Street). In the 1960s, the first infectious diseases hospital was founded in a hospital called “Number 2” (currently Dr. Sheikh Hospital, located on Ghareni Street).In 1969, the infectious diseases ward was transferred to “Sevom-Esfand Hospital” located in Tehran Street (currently Imam Reza Street).
